EURYTHMICS - THORN IN MY SIDE

Yeah!
You Gave Me Such A Bad Time
Tried To Hurt Me, But Now I Know

Thorn In My Side
You Know That's All You Ever Were
A Bundle Of Lies
You Know That's All That It Was Worth
I Should Have Known Better
But I Trusted You At First
I Should Have Known Better
But I Got What I Deserved
Ooh-Whoa-Whoa-Whoa-Whoa
(Ooh-Whoa-Whoa-Whoa-Whoa)
Ooh-Whoa-Whoa-Whoa-Whoa

To Run Away From You
(So Run-Run, Run, Run)
Was All That I Could Do
(Run-Run, Run, Run)
To Run Away From You
(So Run-Run, Run, Run)
Was All That I Could Do
(Run-Run, Run, Run)
To Run Away From You
(So Run-Run, Run, Run)
Was All That I Could Do

Thorn In My Side
You Know That's All You'll Ever Be
So Don't Think You Know Better
'Cause That's What You Mean To Me
I Was Feeling Complicated
I Was Feeling Low
Now Every Time I Think Of You
I Shiver To The Bone
Ooh-Whoa-Whoa-Whoa-Whoa
(Ooh-Whoa-Whoa-Whoa-Whoa)
Ooh-Whoa-Whoa-Whoa-Whoa

To Run Away From You
(So Run-Run, Run, Run)
Was All That I Could Do
(Run-Run, Run, Run)
To Run Away From You
(So Run-Run, Run, Run)

(Run-Run, Run, Run)
(Run-Run, Run, Run)
(Run-Run, Run, Run)
(Run-Run, Run, Run)
(So Run-Run, Run, Run)
(Run-Run, Run, Run)
(So Un-Run, Run, Run)
(Run-Run, Run, Run)
(So Un-Run, Run, Run)

To Run Away From You
(Run-Run, Run, Run)
Was All That I Could Do
(So Un-Run, Run, Run)
To Run Away From You
(Run-Run, Run, Run)
Was All That I Could Do
(So Un-Run, Run, Run)
(Run-Run, Run, Run)
(So Un-Run, Run, Run)

SONG FACTS

Writer(s): Annie Lennox, David A. Stewart
Producer(s): David A. Stewart

Dave Stewart and Annie Lennox of Eurythmics were a couple, but broke up shortly after forming the group. In 1984, Lennox got married for the first time, but divorced soon after. This song came out of that relationship. Released as a single from Eurythmics fifth album, Revenge, "Thorn In My Side" is one of their most popular songs in their native UK, but fared less well in America, as MTV and pop radio began favoring homegrown acts like Madonna, Prince, and Tina Turner. By Eurythmics standards, the video is fairly straightforward, with lots of tight shots of Annie Lennox performing the song in a room backed by a band and a small audience, including a shirtless dude with a rose tattoo. The rose motif returns at the end when she scatters some petals.
