MADONNA - HOLIDAY

Holiday Celebrate
Holiday Celebrate

If We Took A Holiday
Took Some Time To Celebrate
Just One Day Out Of Life
It Would Be, It Would Be So Nice

Everybody Spread The Word
We're Gonna Have A Celebration
All Across The World
In Every Nation

It's Time For The Good Times
Forget About The Bad Times, Oh Yeah
One Day To Come Together
To Release The Pressure
We Need A Holiday

If We Took A Holiday
Took Some Time To Celebrate
Just One Day Out Of Life
It Would Be, It Would Be So Nice

You Can Turn This World Around
And Bring Back All Of Those Happy Days
Put Your Troubles Down
It's Time To Celebrate
Let Love Shine
And We Will Find
A Way To Come Together
And Make Things Better
We Need A Holiday

If We Took A Holiday
Took Some Time To Celebrate
Just One Day Out Of Life
It Would Be, It Would Be So Nice

Holiday Celebrate
Holiday Celebrate

If We Took A Holiday
Took Some Time To Celebrate
Just One Day Out Of Life
It Would Be, It Would Be So Nice

Holiday Celebrate
Holiday Celebrate

Holiday, Celebration
Come Together In Every Nation

This Buoyant Musical Celebration Was Madonna's First Hit. Released On Her First Album, It's One Of Her Favorites, And The Song She Has Performed Most Often In Concert.

In America, It Was Her Third Single, Following "Everybody" And "Burning Up."

A Very Basic Video Was Made For This Song Showing Madonna Dancing To It, Flanked By Her Brother, Christopher Ciccone, And Friend, Erika Belle. It Didn't Have Enough Production Value For Mtv, But Madonna's Next Two Videos - "Lucky Star" And "Borderline" - Were Huge Hits On The Network.

In The Uk, This Was Released After "Everybody" And "Lucky Star," And After Madonna Performed It On The Tv Show Top Of The Pops, It Became Her First Charting Single In Britain, Going To #14 In February 1984. With Newfound Momentum, "Lucky Star" Was Re-Released And Became Her Second Hit, Going To #14 In April.

In 1985 "Holiday" Was Re-Released In The Uk, This Time Going All The Way To #2, Kept Out Of The Top Spot By Her Song "Into The Groove."

In 1991 "Holiday" Was Released For The Third Time In The Uk, This Time Reaching #5.

Madonna Performed This Regularly In Her Concerts Until The 2006 Confessions Tour, But Then She Put It Back In For Her 2008 Sticky & Sweet Tour.

Jessica Simpson Was Accused Of Being A Rip-Off Artist When She Released The Similar-Sounding "A Public Affair," Which Samples The "Holiday" Melody. She Told Mtv In 2006: "I Think People Are Ready To Hear Something That Madonna Used To Do. We All Need To Hear That Every Now And Again. It Wasn't A Sample Or Something I Meant To Do, But She Did Influence Me And Still Does Today."
