LADY GAGA - THE EDGE OF GLORY

There Ain't No Reason
You And Me Should Be Alone
Tonight, Yeah Baby
Tonight, Yeah Baby
I Got A Reason That You're
Who Should Take Me Home Tonight

I Need A Man That Thinks
It's Right When It's So Wrong
Tonight, Yeah Baby
Tonight, Yeah Baby
Right On The Limits
Where We Know We Both Belong Tonight

It's Hot To Feel The Rush
To Brush The Dangerous
I'm Gonna Run Right To
To The Edge With You
Where We Can Both Fall Far In Love

I'm On The Edge Of Glory
And I'm Hanging On A Moment Of Truth
Out On The Edge Of Glory
And I'm Hanging On A Moment With You

I'm On The Edge, The Edge, The Edge
The Edge, The Edge, The Edge, The Edge
I'm On The Edge Of Glory
And I'm Hanging On A Moment With You
I'm On The Edge With You

Another Shot Before
We Kiss The Other Side
Tonight, Yeah Baby
Tonight, Yeah Baby
I'm On The Edge Of Something Final
We Call Life Tonight
(Alright, Alright)

Put On Your Shades
Cause I'll Be Dancing In The Flames
Tonight, Yeah Baby
Tonight, Yeah Baby
It Isn't Hell If Everyone Knows My Name
Tonight
(Alright, Alright)

It's Hot To Feel The Rush
To Brush The Dangerous
I'm Gonna Run Right To
To The Edge With You
Where We Can Both Fall Far In Love

I'm On The Edge Of Glory
And I'm Hanging On A Moment Of Truth
Out On The Edge Of Glory
And I'm Hanging On A Moment With You

I'm On The Edge, The Edge, The Edge
The Edge, The Edge, The Edge, The Edge
I'm On The Edge Of Glory
And I'm Hanging On A Moment With You
I'm On The Edge With You

I'm On The Edge With You
I'm On The Edge With You

I'm On The Edge Of Glory
And I'm Hanging On A Moment Of Truth
Out On The Edge Of Glory
And I'm Hanging On A Moment With You

I'm On The Edge, The Edge, The Edge
The Edge, The Edge, The Edge, The Edge
I'm On The Edge Of Glory
And I'm Hanging On A Moment With You

I'm On The Edge With You
(With You, With You, With You, With You)
I'm On The Edge With You
(With You, With You, With You, With You)
I'm On The Edge With You
(With You, With You, With You, With You)
I'm On The Edge With You
(With You, With You, With You, With You)

SONG FACTS

Writer(s): Stefani Germanotta, Fernando Garibay, Paul Blair
Producer(s): Fernando Garibay

Gaga Wrote This Song About Her Grandfather While He Was Dying. In Her 2011 Thanksgiving Special, She Revealed That It Was A Specific Moment Shared Between Her Grandparents That Provided The Inspiration For The Song. Said Gaga: "They Had Been Married For 60 Years, And My Grandma Used To Tell Me About My Grandpa Sleeping In A Car On The Street Just So He Could Be Near Her - They Were Italian And Very Strict So There Was No Way Grandpa Was Going To Be Sleeping Over At Grandma's House When She Was A Kid. When I Saw Her Say Goodbye To Him, I Realized That In That Moment, They Both Acknowledged That They Had Won At Life Because They Had Won At Love With Each Other."

Recalling The Loss Of Her Grandfather In 2010 During A Google Goes Gaga Interview, The Singer Revealed That She Wrote This Song At An Emotional Moment At The Piano With Her Father. "My Dad And I Were Going To Say Goodbye To Him At The Hospice, And I Got Out A Big Thing Of Agave Tequila And My Dad Sat Next To Me At The Piano And We Started Doing Shots Back And Forth, And I Wrote 'The Edge Of Glory' On The Piano And My Dad And I Cried."

Gaga Explained The Song's Meaning During An Interview With E! News: "The Song Is About, How When I Watch My Grandpa Die, I Believe That He Looks My Grandmother And I Realize That He Was A Champion In The Life And That's When He's Able To Go To The Edge Of Glory That Represents Being On The Edge Of That Glorious Moment."

The Music Video Was Shot May 28-29, 2011. Originally Joseph Kahn, Who'd Previously Worked With Lady Gaga On "Lovegame" And "Eh, Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say)" Was Hired To Direct The Clip, But After Rumors Of An Argument Between Gaga And Kahn, The New York Songstress Took Over. The Video Is A Tribute To Gaga's Free-Spirited Youth In New York's East Village And Sees Her Dancing And Singing Solo On A Fire Escape And A Deserted Street. Aside From The Singer Herself, Clarence Clemons Is The Only Other Person To Appear In The Visual.

With The Song Peaking At #3 On The Billboard Hot 100, It Equaled The Highest Charting Title To Sport A Clarence Clemons Sax Solo. Aretha Franklin's "Freeway Of Love" Also Reached #3 In 1985.

This Was One Of Six Gaga Tunes Blacklisted By China's Ministry Of Culture For Their "Vulgar" Content And Encouraging "Youthful Independence." All Chinese Music Streaming Websites Were Ordered To Remove The Songs By September 15, 2011. Want To Know What Her Other Five Banned Tunes Were? They Were: "Americano," "Bloody Mary," "Hair," "Judas" And "Marry The Night." We Note The Chinese Censors Weren't So Concerned About Gaga Swearing In German."
